Knicks make big changes

After going 47-35 and losing in the Eastern Conference semifinals, the Knicks made a series of offseason moves, essentially retooling the roster in a day. They acquired All-Star forward Larry Johnson from the Charlotte Hornets for Anthony Mason and Brad Lohaus, and signed free agents Allan Houston and Chris Childs. None of the players matched their numbers from the previous season, but the Knicks improved to 57-25 and reached the semifinals again. It was also Jeff Van Gundy's first full season as head coach. That group helped the Knicks reach the 1998-1999 NBA Finals.
