Asking prices for tonight's Rays-Yankees game - the Yankees' first since the death of owner George Steinbrenner on Tuesday - have skyrocketed, according to the ticket search engine FanSnap.com.
Through Wednesday, prices had more than doubled during the week, rising from $78 Monday to $86 Tuesday, then to $160 Wednesday.
At the same time, ticket availability has plummeted by 60 percent for the game.
Average prices for tomorrow's Old-Timers' Day also have risen, and asking prices for all remaining Yankees home games are up by an average of almost 10 percent since Steinbrenner's death.
A FanSnap spokesman said prices for tonight's game began to rise after the death of Bob Sheppard on Sunday, then rose more quickly in the wake of the Steinbrenner news.
