I couldn't agree more that Hicksville is in need of a revitalization ["In Hicksville, new visions for downtown," News, May 23]. This is a dire need, an emergency!

So let's stop discussing and actually do something for this area, which has long been the forgotten stepchild of its prettier, more affluent neighboring towns.

And while a local revitalization plan calls for housing downtown, among other improvements, would that actually beautify Hicksville? Where are the restaurants and upscale, not downscale, shops?

Wonder why the beautification ends with downtown. Streets in some residential areas, particularly where I live, are in deplorable condition due to shoddy repaving more than a decade ago. A real eyesore!

Let's clean up all of Hicksville with less talk and more action.
