The NFL has fined Patriots quarterback Tom Brady $10,000 for an "aggressive slide" in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The fine was announced last night on NFL.com.

On a first-and-goal near the end of the second quarter, Brady was forced out of the pocket to his left. He ran for 3 yards but slid before he could be tackled. In the process, he raised his right leg and kicked Ravens safety Ed Reed in the thigh.

Brady reportedly apologized to Reed in a text message.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James said he has no information on the fine. A message was left seeking comment from a league spokesman.

The Ravens won, 28-13, to advance to the Super Bowl.
