Tonight: NAACP to host Huntington author

In celebration of Black History Month, the Huntington chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is hosting festivities featuring Kevin Bailey, a Huntington native, motivational speaker and author. The event will include participation from the chapter’s youth council.

“We feel it is important to have a sense of history to better understand what is happening today,” chapter president Darryl Dodson said. “With our black history event, we try to highlight people from Huntington who have made an impact in the community.”

Bailey is a Walt Whitman High School graduate who has worked with youth throughout Long Island. He is the author of several books including “Anthony Meets the Playground Bully,” the debut book from his “Anthony Kid’s Safety” series, according to Dodson.

The program starts at 7 p.m. at South Huntington Public Library, 145 Pidgeon Hill Rd., Huntington Station.
