Tony Romo practices in London
Romo 'feeling better'
Tony Romo practiced yesterday for the first time since arriving in London, and the Dallas Cowboys quarterback says his injured back is getting better.
Romo missed last Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals because of his third back injury in 18 months. He skipped Wednesday's practice after the team's arrival Tuesday.
"We'll keep taking it day by day and just see what happens," Romo said. "It's improving each day and I think we did some things today that were positive. Just keep going in that direction, I think we'll have a good chance [of playing Sunday]."
Romo has fractures in two small bones in his back. He said he still is a little sore but called it "normal stuff" and said his back loosened up during practice.
"Each day you just get incrementally better, you improve. I'm feeling better," he said. "I think it's getting to a point where you can manage it."
The Cowboys (6-3) will play the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-8) at Wembley Stadium in the last of three regular-season games in London this year.
Ravens lose CB Smith
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith will miss the rest of the season with a foot injury. He hurt his left foot in the first quarter of a game against Cincinnati on Oct. 26. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said an examination of the foot yesterday revealed the need for surgery.
Fallout from bus crash
The Minneapolis Police Department is re-evaluating its escort policy for NFL teams after the recent crash of buses carrying the Washington Redskins on their way to play the Minnesota Vikings.
Police spokesman John Elder said the department will not provide any escorts until that re-evaluation has been completed. The Vikings' next home game is Nov. 23 against the Packers, and it was unclear whether the MPD's review will be completed in time for that. -- AP
