All week, I’ve been hearing about the great things the YMCA has done for the Bay Shore community (and I’ve been driving by its impressive building), so I reached out to executive director Bob Pettersen to see if I could check out the facility.

I’m meeting with Pettersen, a longtime member of the community, this afternoon and will post an interview with him afterward.

Today, you’ll also find a story on the Baker family, who has lived in Bay Shore for generations, and is grateful to its community for the support it showed when 21-year-old Jack Baker was injured in an accident in Costa Rica in January.

I’ve received many emails from Bay Shore residents and met so many of them already, but it’s not too late. Send your suggestions or just your thoughts about Bay Shore by email, in the comments below or on Twitter.
