Our focus on Orient is coming to an end, though not quite over yet.

Although I’ve crossed the Orient-East Marion Causeway for the last time (this week, at least), I still have plenty of stories to share from my time there.

Today, you’ll get a glimpse into life as a member of the Orient Yacht Club, which at the moment has about a two-year waiting list to become a member. The club itself is located on the historic Orient wharf, which once was the main portal for goods shipped to the area when Orient Point was just farmland.

Last night, I popped into the club’s weekly Thursday adult sailing races, followed by a potluck dinner. Look for photos and a story on the event today.

You’ll also finally see the history story and video we’ve been working on all week, which will provide you with one more opportunity to view scenes from the picturesque community and take a deeper look into how it has evolved.

Plus, read about Orient’s newest business owners and also meet a couple of “old-timers” who have lived in Orient for 70 years or more.

Keep your comments coming, and find more photos and tidbits from Orient on Twitter, Foursquare and Storify. Heading out to Orient soon? Ask me anything ... I’ve seen the whole place.
