Newsday's Erin Geismar is on day four of our series, Town Focus: A Week in Sayville.

On Wednesday, she caught up with Kathleen Prokesch, marketing and special events director at the Long Island Maritime Museum, and wrote about Sunrise Drive Elementary School’s Jump Rope for Heart effort, which raised about $12,000 for the American Heart Association.

She’s off this morning to Sayville High School, where the wind ensemble will be rehearsing for an upcoming performance at Carnegie Hall.

And later, she’ll be meeting up with a resident whose family has been in the community since the 1800s.

Make sure to follow her day on her @eringeismar, or send her an email with suggestions on what else she could cover this week.
