Town mulls future of Gordon Heights FD

UPDATE: Here's the full story

The Brookhaven Town Board discussed the possibility of dissolving the Gordon Heights Fire District -- the most-taxed district on Long Island -- at town hall in Farmingville today.

On Monday, the town released a consultant's report that said the district should slash expenditures by 40 percent and submit to enhanced oversight by Brookhaven Town, or face dissolution.

Newsday’s Brookhaven reporter Patrick Whittle was at the event and provided updates on Twitter.
