The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter will offer a reduced-price, one-day-only spay/neuter program for pet cats on Aug. 4.

Town residents with nonferal cats will pay $40 per animal, town officials said. The shelter will perform spay/neuter surgeries for up to 50 cats for residents who have made appointments.

Additionally, rabies vaccinations and flea medication will be offered for $10 each and microchipping for $25.

All cats must be brought to the shelter, at 3320 Beltagh Ave. in Wantagh, in cat carriers between 6 and 7:30 a.m.; payment is due at this time. Pickup time is from 3 to 5 p.m. the same day.

To make an appointment, contact Steven Reichert, the shelter’s trap-neuter-release coordinator, at 516-785-5220, ext. 4630 or by email at sreichert@tohmail.org. Payments can be made in cash or by check, payable to Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter.

For more information about the shelter, call 516-785-5220 or visit www.toh.li/animal-shelter.
