Town, union partner to supply soldiers
The Town of Oyster Bay is partnering with local Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) members for the fourth annual Solider Collection Drive, an effort to gather supplies for Armed Forces members overseas.
According to a news release, Town Councilman Anthony D. Macagnone said that the 2010 drive resulted in the collection of nearly 1,800 pounds of supplies.
Town residents are being asked to bring items to one of the following locations by Feb. 28:
* Town Hall North, 54 Audrey Ave., Oyster Bay
* Department of Public Works (CSEA entrance), 150 Miller Place, Syosset
* Town Hall South, 977 Hicksville Rd., Massapequa
* Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center, 1001 Stewart Ave., Bethpage
Items needed include:
* Antibiotic and cortisone ointments
* White socks
* Visine
* Athletic T-shirts (black or brown only)
* Pepto Bismol tablets
* Phone cards
* Tylenol/Advil
* Old cell phones (without chargers please)
* Band-Aids
* Peanut butter
* Deodorant
* Cereal
* Powder
* Microwave pastas and soups
* Gillette Mach 3 razors
* GNC protein shakes
* Mouthwash
* Tuna fish (pre-mixed packs)
* ChapStick
* Nuts
* Body wash
* Chip/dip (cans)
* Flea and tick collars
* Gummi Bears
* Baby wipes
* Lollipops/hard candy/mints
