The Townwide Fund of Huntington, a group that distributes grants to charities within Huntington, has announced it granted $104,000 to 20 organizations last year.

The amount is roughly the same as it distributed in 2010, the organization said.

The organizations it supports include social services, youth, hunger and other groups.

Also at its meeting last month, the group named James T. Powers as its president for 2012. Powers, a Huntington architect and restaurateur, also served as president in 2009 and 2010.

The fund is planning to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a gala at Oheka Castle in April.
