Lindenhurst organizations are hosting a holiday toy drive and adopt-a-family event in the coming weeks for those affected by superstorm Sandy.
Rob Byrne, who heads a Lindenhurst schools alumni group, and Jennifer Schmitt, who runs the Around Lindenhurst Facebook page, have teamed up for the event. Until Dec. 12, they will be accepting unwrapped toy donations at various locations in Lindenhurst. Individual families who need help can also be “adopted.”
To ask to be adopted or suggest a family that might need help, call 631-312-8408 or enter the family’s information online at tinyurl.com/lindyholiday.
Anyone interested in adopting a family should check tinyurl.com/lindyholidayhelp.
A party where the families being adopted can pick up their gifts will be held Dec. 19 at the Fireman’s Pavilion, 100 Heling Blvd. The party will feature food, music and Santa Claus.
