Toys go to needy in Hempstead
The Town of Hempstead and Civil Service Employees Association Local 880 helped the Salvation Army provide a happy holiday season for area children through their Angel Tree Toy Collection and Distribution Program.
CSEA Local 880 Executive Vice President Albert Smith explained that the town and its Civil Service Employees Association have been collecting holiday toys for over 20 years. The town's collection drive accounts for the vast majority of the toys that the local Salvation Army distributes to disadvantaged families.
"There are few things more gratifying than being able to bring a smile to a child's face during this time of year," observed Smith. "The spirit of giving is alive and well in Hempstead Town Hall and at the Salvation Army," added Murray.
