An early-morning crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer closed the eastbound Long Island Expressway at Little Neck Parkway on the Nassau-Queens border Friday, causing massive rush-hour delays.

The New York State Department of Transportation reported the accident at 5:01 a.m.

By 6:30 a.m. one eastbound lane had been reopened — but delays still stretched west for miles. The accident occurred between Exit 32, Little Neck Parkway, and Exit 33, Lakeville Road, according to the DOT.

It was unclear when all lanes would reopen. Officials were asking commuters to use alternate routes to Long Island.
