Trader Joe's White Wheat Bread
If you've been trying unsuccessfully to get your children to eat whole-wheat bread, give Trader Joe's White Wheat Bread a try. It's 100 percent whole wheat, but made from white spring wheat, a variety that is milder in flavor and lighter in color than the more common (and nutty-tasting) red winter wheat. Your kids may think they're eating white bread. A 24-ounce loaf is $2.49 at Trader Joe's in Lake Grove, Commack, Plainview, Merrick, Hewlett, Oceanside and the newest store, at the Gallery at Westbury Plaza (900 Old Country Rd., 516-794-0174).
