There will be a training session next week for volunteers for the annual count of the homeless on Long Island.

The Nassau/Suffolk Continuum of Care Group will conduct a count of the region’s unsheltered homeless population on Jan. 23 in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The training session will be Monday, Jan. 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Touro Law Center in Central Islip.

The count is used to secure funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for homeless services.
