Triathlon to benefit wounded warriors

A triathlon to benefit injured members of the military will take place Sunday at Tobay Beach.
The event, called the Wounded Warrior Project triathlon, is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. and comprises a half-mile swim, 15K bike race and 11K run.
The goal of the triathlon is “to honor and empower wounded members of the military” and enlist “the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members,” said Assemb. Brian Curran (R-Lynbrook), a sponsor of the event.
“These injured service members are heroes to whom we have a debt of honor and gratitude to repay,” Curran said in a statement. “The Wounded Warrior Project takes a step toward making life for those who were injured serving this country just a little easier.”
A representative from the Wounded Warrior Project is expected to attend, Curran said.
