Trikas leads Waldorf boys in NYSAIS Tournament
Costa Trikas scored his first of two goals on an assist from Seaton White 12 minutes into the first half and Sean Proctor added a penalty kick goal 30 minutes in to lead No. 9 Waldorf over No. 8 Staten Island Academy, 4-0, Wednesday in the first round of the NYSAIS Tournament.
Sun Sarnkingthong also scored for Waldorf (12-1-1), which totaled 66 goals this season and allowed only 14. Goalkeeper Cristian Longoria made 10 saves for his sixth shutout of the season. Michael Escribano, who led the IPPSAL in goals, played sweeper on defense instead of his usual forward spot and defender Deni Carmon shut out Staten Island's leading goal scorer Devin Fuller.
Waldorf will play at No. 1 Hackley at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in a quarterfinal game.
