This year’s Hampton Bays High School homecoming court was double the fun for one family.

Fraternal twins Rebecca and Meghan Harris, 17, were among the three finalists for homecoming queen.

The athletic sisters were matched in head-to-toe sportswear as they enjoyed their final pep rally together as seniors last Friday. Meghan is the vice president of senior class and captain of the softball team. Rebecca is president of the student council and captain of the field hockey team.

“There’s a little sibling rivalry, but it’s just playful,” Rebecca said.

While Rebecca had competed for class royalty before, this was Meghan’s first time competing. The students at the school nominate six candidates -- three boys and three girls in grades 10-12 -- and only vote for those in their class.

Meghan, who is older than Rebecca by 30 seconds said it was already a victory to be a finalist with her sister.

“I don’t really care who wins, I’m just happy we’re both running,” Meghan said before the decision was made.

In the end, Rebecca and Meghan didn’t have to worry about facing the wrath of sibling jealousy. Nikki Nolan was named homecoming queen along with king Fraser Trujillo.

Only time will tell if the Harris sisters will face this issue again in college but both do have their eyes set on attending the University of Connecticut.
