Officials of the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum have scheduled a public meeting for July 20 about a proposal to build a 140-foot-high cellphone tower on the Centerport property.

Residents of the area are invited to attend. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the museum’s planetarium, at 180 Little Neck Rd.

In 2009, Suffolk Legis. Jon Cooper (D-Lloyd Harbor) proposed placing a cell tower on the county-owned property to improve cell service in the Centerport and Northport Harbor area and as a way for the cash-strapped facility to raise funds.

For more information, call the museum at 631-854-5579.
