Updates on corruption cases
Follow-ups to past corruption stories cropped up last week. The state public-integrity commission faulted John J. O'Connor, president of the SUNY Research Foundation, for employing Susan Bruno, daughter of convicted ex-Sen. Joseph Bruno, "in a position for which she was not qualified, in which she performed little or no work and in which she rarely, if ever, came to the office." And the New Mexico State Investment Council filed a lawsuit noting the role of imprisoned ex-Comptroller Alan Hevesi's son Daniel Hevesi as a pension "placement agent."
