Val Oyakhilome is going to be asked to carry a much bigger load for Lindenhurst this season with the graduation of four starters. So far, she’s up to the task.

The senior forward exploded for a career-high 41 points tonight in a 67-57 overtime win over Islip. She scored five of the team’s 10 points in overtime. She added 12 rebounds.

Oyakhilome, who is averaging 28.2 points through four games, is still working her way back from a knee injury that forced her to miss some time in the preseason. She averaged 19.4 points and 9.3 rebounds as a junior.
