THE BUDGET

The district is proposing a budget of $41,341,680 for the 2010-11 school year, an increase of 0.85 percent over the current budget of $40,991,386. The tax levy would rise from $29,184,886 to $30,160,180, an increase of 3.34 percent.

The average homeowner with a house assessed at $951 would pay $3,197.28 in taxes, a 1.68 percent increase from the current figure of $3,144.59.

The proposed budget also includes estimated increases in contracted teacher salaries subject to negotiation later this year and the elimination of 11 positions: six aides, three part-time teachers and two full-time teachers.
