Valley Stream's Cisco knows nothing is promised

Andre Cisco is trying to prove his value to the Jets all over again.
The veteran safety from Valley Stream was a starter last year before suffering a season-ending torn pectoral in Week 8. Now he’s battling Dane Belton for a starting safety position.
Cisco appreciates being in this spot after what happened last year on a one-year deal and with his playing future murky. Free agency was “quiet for a little second” said Cisco, who re-signed on a one-year deal with the Jets.
“Being back and building back on the team and in a competition to start in the NFL, I'm not going to lose sight of how grateful I got to be,” Cisco said. “Day-to-day is about just resetting. Just honestly finding a role within the team is more important than trying to beat somebody out. We're all on the same team. I want to solidify a role so that I can contribute.”
Belton may have a leg up on Cisco but he’s been a playmaker as well. Cisco had an interception in Friday’s preseason game in Pittsburgh playing with the second team and broke up a pass in the end zone in Tuesday’s practice and had a tackle for a loss.
“If you prove your value, they're going to find a way to get you in the field,” Cisco said. “For myself, it's nothing different. To get on the field, you need to prove your value each and every day.”
