Victor Oladipo leads No. 1 Indiana over No. 10 Ohio State
Victor Oladipo scored a career-high 26 points, Cody Zeller 24 and Christian Watford 20 yesterday to lead No. 1 Indiana to an 81-68 men's basketball win over host No. 10 Ohio State. It was the Hoosiers' first game after a demoralizing loss Thursday at Illinois. Indiana (21-3, 9-3 Big Ten) likely will fall from the top spot when the new poll is announced Monday. Deshaun Thomas had 26 points for Ohio State (17-6, 7-4).
Duke 62, Boston College 61: Mason Plumlee (19 points, 10 rebounds) hit the winning free throw with 26 seconds left to help No. 4 Duke rally. Seth Curry added 18 points for visiting Duke, which saw the three teams above them in the top 25 lose to unranked opponents this past week. Olivier Hanlan hd 20 for BC (10-13, 2-8 ACC). The Eagles led by five points with 2:15 left. Duke is 21-2, 8-2.
California 77, Arizona 69: Allen Crabbe scored 19 of his 31 points in the second half and Justin Cobbs had 21 points as California (14-9, 6-5 Pac-12) knocked off host No. 7 Arizona, the sixth top 10 team to lose during the week. The Wildcats (20-3, 8-3) struggled against Cal's zone defense in the second half and had their winning streak snapped at five.
Illinois 57, Minnesota 53: Tyler Griffey capped a terrific week for Illinois with 16 points as the Fighting Illini went 11-for-23 from three-point range against host No. 18 Minnesota. Three days after Griffey's buzzer-beating layup gave Illinois (17-8, 4-7 Big Ten) a 74-72 victory over No. 1 Indiana, Tracy Abrams swished a step-back three-pointer with 18 seconds left to stretch the lead over Minnesota to four. Austin Hollins had 16 points and four steals for Minnesota (17-7, 5-6).
Connecticut 78, Seton Hall 67: The blizzard that dumped almost three feet of snow in Connecticut forced the Huskies to take an eight-hour bus ride to Newark on Saturday for this game, so it's not surprising they began sluggishly. Eventually, though, Shabazz Napier took over, contributing 22 points, nine assists and six steals and leading UConn's second-half comeback. Ryan Boatright added 20 points for the Huskies (16-6, 6-4 Big East), who rallied from a seven-point deficit. Seton Hall is 13-11, 2-9. -- AP
