The Northport Village administrator is leaving his post to take a job as a building inspector in the Town of Huntington.
Gene Guido, 62, of Huntington, said his last day will be tomorrow, after working for the village for 3 1/2 years. His current salary is $85,000, and one of his biggest responsibilities has been overseeing the ongoing upgrade of the sewage treatment plant.
Guido said he plans to start his job in Huntington on Wednesday. He will earn $64,057 each year, according to town spokesman A.J. Carter.
Guido said he felt that the town job was a better employment opportunity for him. “Hopefully it is a little easier than what I am doing now,” he said.
He said he worked for Tyree, a petroleum services business and environmental firm in Farmingdale, before he worked for Northport.
The village has started advertising for the job. The village also has a part-time village administrator.
