Violence is another reason for divorce

Daniel Akst's May 16 column about divorce, "Turns out that breaking up isn't hard to do," neglects to mention an important reason for the increase in the divorce rate in this country. It's the ABCs of domestic violence: abused and battered women and children.

Many American women are no longer silent about domestic violence, although much more needs to be done to help abused women and children escape violent husbands and fathers.
