Community advocates will throw a party Friday in Central Islip, seeking to attract young blacks and Latinos they can sign up as registered voters.

The Long Island Civic Engagement Table, an umbrella group for advocacy efforts in minority communities, is hosting what it calls its “Vote4Respect Concert” to reach potential voters and “express the importance of civic engagement to those young folks,” group coordinator Daniel Altschuler said.

The event, at $5 per person, will feature performances of Latin bachata music and hip-hop by Grammy nominee Toby Love, Hot 97’s DJ Cipha Sounds and local performer Baby J.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. at Central Islip Senior High School, 85 Wheeler Rd.

Volunteers will work to register partygoers, as part of a push in Suffolk minority communities that Altschuler said has yielded more than 3,500 new voters since the start of summer.
