Voters in the Hillside Public Library district have approved a $2.8-million budget for 2011-12.

The amount raised through taxes will go up 1.98 percent. The vote, held Tuesday at Manor Oaks School, was 1,235 to 680, according to the library.

Library director Charlene Noll said information on the average tax impact was not available.

Richard Bursig was elected as trustee to fill a vacancy created by the death of Trustee Palma Pursino. Bursig received 83 write-in votes, defeating another write-in candidate, Lisa Friel, who got 35.
