Voters to decide on $151M school budget
The Northport-East Northport school board voted Wednesday night to put a $151-million budget for the 2011-12 school year on the May 17 ballot.
The budget represents a 2.5 percent increase over the previous year’s $147,487,339.
The tax rate would increase by an estimated 1.83 percent. For every $100 in assessed value, a property owner would pay $162.21.
The board also voted to offer an additional proposition to district voters. Proposition 2 would authorize spending $900,000 from the district’s capital reserve fund for two boilers at the Northport Middle School and replacement of the slate steps at the front of the William J. Brosnan School.
