Voting records not being scrubbed

Your editorial "Bring NY into 21st Century" [Dec. 5] missed an important reason why voter turnout seems to be "a feeble 32.1 percent." In my own household only 40 percent of the adults who were registered voters as of September actually voted. Why? Because the other 60 percent moved out of Nassau County or New York state as many as 12 years ago.
Every year when I go to the polls, I tell poll workers that these people no longer live in New York. I was always told that the poll workers would take care of removing the names. How was I to know that I was given wrong information? In September, I called the Nassau County Board of Elections and asked how to remove the names of three adult children, who are registered to vote elsewhere, from the voter registration rolls. After following the instructions I received, the names were finally removed before the election.
