W. Babylon group, PAL host Bowl-Off
A community organization and the Suffolk Police Athletic League are co-sponsoring a night of bowling aimed at building relationships with communities and keeping kids out of trouble.
PAL will be co-hosting the event along with Man in the Mirror, an organization run by West Babylon’s Heath Broughton aimed at strengthening the relationship between communities and the police.
The second annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “Night of Non-Violence Bowl-Off” will take place Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 300 Long Island in Melville.
The event, which is open to all children and their families on Long Island, costs $5 and includes a meal.
Broughton said there will be prizes and giveaways.
Lt. Bob Donohue, Suffolk’s commanding officer for community outreach, said the night out is designed to “help keep kids out of trouble while also having fun.”
Broughton called the event a “friendly night out with family to build both community and police relationships” and said it is the first of many events planned for the summer.
