Marjorie R. Post Community Park is at the intersection of Unqua and Merrick roads in Massapequa. The 40-acre park it is one of the larger parks in the area. It has two skating rinks -- one for roller skating and the other for ice skating. There are picnic areas, playgrounds, basketball courts and areas for checkers and chess. The Long Island League to Abolish Cancer and the Town of Oyster Bay are teaming up to sponsor their second annual cancer walkathon Sept. 30.

“Step Up to Stamp-out Cancer” will begin at 10 a.m. at Marjorie Post Park, at Unqua and Merrick roads, in Massapequa.

The town noted that more than 95 percent of the money raised goes directly to hospitals in the region to help combat cancer.

Preregistration is $25 in advance or $30 the day of the event. For more information, visit lileaguetoabolishcancer.org or call 516-692-2809.
