All 10 of Wantagh High School’s fall varsity athletic teams have been named New York State Scholar-Athlete teams.
The awards mean that the boys and girls cross country, cheerleading, football, boys and girls soccer, girls swimming and diving, girls tennis, and boys and girls volleyball teams each maintained at least a 90 average throughout the fall 2010 semester.
But Wantagh’s teams didn’t just excel in the classroom.
The girls volleyball team won the Nassau County Class A title and advanced to the New York State semifinals, girls cross country took second place at the Nassau County championships and the boys soccer team went to the Nassau County Championships where they lost to Southside.
