Wantagh Chamber of Commerce hosts Suozzi, Mangano tonight

The Wantagh Chamber of Commerce tonight is hosting a public Meet the Candidates Night, a nonpartisan political community event.

There will be no admission charged for the event, which  will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Johnny Malone’s,  1227 Wantagh Ave. Residents can meet the candidates in an informal, cocktail party format. There will be complimentary appetizers and a cash bar, organizers said.

County Executive Edward Mangano, a Republican, is expected to attend the meeting, as is his Democratic opponent Thomas Suozzi.

Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos, a Republican, and his predecessor and challenger Howard Weitzman, a Democrat, are also scheduled to attend.

Laura Gillen, the Democratic candidate for Nassau County clerk, is slated to attend. Incumbent Republican Clerk Maureen O’Connell did not respond to requests to attend as of  yesterday.

Republican Norma Gonsalves, county legislator for District 13, will also attend. Her Democratic opponent Ed Kraus did not respond to requests to attend as of yesterday.

Others expected to attend are Democrat Dave Denenberg, county legislator for District 19, as well as his Republican opponent Steven Rhoads.

Nassau 2nd District Court judicial candidates, Republican opponent Joy Watson and Democrat Anna Grimaldi are slated to attend.

Felix Procacci, a Democratic candidate for Hempstead Town supervisor, is expected to attend but not Town Supervisor Kate Murray, organizers said.

Appointed Hempstead Town Clerk Nasrin Ahmad, a Republican, will also attend, but her Democratic opponent Jasmine Garcia-Vieux did not respond to requests to attend as of yesterday.

Diane Madden, a Democratic candidate for council District 6, will attend. The other candidate, incumbent Republican Gary Hudes, did not respond to requests to attend as of yesterday.
