Water district warns Riverhead residents of line flushing

Riverhead residents are being cautioned to check their water before doing any wash for the next three weeks, as the town’s municipal water district flushes out its lines. Most of the annual spring flushing is done at night, but people who find discolored water coming out of their faucets are advised to just let the water run for a few minutes, said Gary Pendzick, superintendent of the Riverhead Water District.
If it does not clear up, he suggests customers wait and try it later.
People who experience problems for more than a few hours can contact water district officials by calling 631-727-3205 Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
