Nassau County Legis. Dave Denenberg (D-Merrick), in partnership with the Long Island Drowning Prevention Task Force, will present a water safety program Thursday for National Water Safety Awareness Month.
Members of the task force will prepare participants for summer water activities and demonstrate how to protect themselves and their children. The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Wantagh Public Library, 3285 Wantagh Ave.
Drowning is the sixth-leading cause of unintentional injury death for people of all ages, and the second-leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 14, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Proper safety measures and precautions can prevent accidents and fatalities, organizers said.
For further information, call Denenberg’s office at 516-571-6219.
