Long Island is in for a calm, somewhat dry week, according to the National Weather Service. (Dec. 1, 2013)

Long Island is in for a calm, somewhat dry week, according to the National Weather Service.

A few light rain showers will linger on the East End on Sunday, with the rest of the Island remaining dry, said Joe Picca, meteorologist with the service's Upton bureau. Highs will be in the mid- to upper 40s, with mostly cloudy skies.

A chance of light sprinkles will return Sunday night, with lows in the 30s.

Monday will start out dry, with highs in the upper 40s, but a chance of light rain will come again on Monday night, Picca said. Lows on Monday will be in the mid- to upper 30s.

Tuesday will dry out, with highs in the upper 40s to near 50, with lows in the mid- to upper 30s.

Wednesday will be similar, with highs around 50 and lows around 40, Picca said. A chance of rainshowers will return on Thursday night into Friday.

Friday's highs will be in the low 50s, with the lows around 40.
