Canadian front to bring 1-2 inches of snow Monday

A Canadian cold front could bring 1 to 2 inches of snow to Long Island Monday night followed by below-normal freezing temperatures until Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
"Monday night there is the potential for light snow," said Peter Wichrowski, a meteorologist for the weather service in Upton. "It looks like we could get one to two inches in Suffolk County and one inch closer to New York City."
Then the temperatures will drop to a high around freezing on Monday and the mid- to upper 20s from Tuesday through Thursday. "By Friday, it might warm up a little bit, with temperatures more like normal in the middle 30s," Wichrowski said.
"These are 10 to 15 degrees below normal temperatures," meteorologist David Stark said. "It's going to feel a little more like winter."
It was expected to be breezy Sunday night with winds of 15 to 20 mph and gusts to 30 mph, which will then diminish after midnight. On Monday, winds are expected to be only 5 to 10 mph.
