Clear, sunny skies and near 70-degree temperatures are in store Thursday for Long Island, the National Weather Service said.

Daily highs across Nassau and Suffolk counties are expected to be in the upper 60s to low 70s, with winds from the southwest at 8 to 10 mph, the service's Upton office said.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman called for "lots of sunshine" on Thursday, describing conditions that provide "a top 10 weather day."

Hoffman said temperatures will be near to above normal for most of the next seven days.

Skies remain clear overnight and into Friday morning, with overnight lows just shy of 50 degrees.

But Friday, clouds increase, and beginning in the afternoon hours, there's a slight chance of showers.
