Another day of mostly cloudy skies, spotty showers and warm, humid air is in store for Long Island, the National Weather Service said Tuesday.
The best chance for showers and thunderstorms is after 2 p.m. and through the early evening, possibly affecting the afternoon commute.
Overall, chance of precipitation Tuesday is 30 percent, the service's Upton office said.
Daily highs Tuesday are expected to be near 80 across Nassau and Suffolk counties, with south winds 5 to 8 mph.
News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said there's a good chance for heavy rain and thunderstorms between 3 and 8 p.m.
"Some thunderstorms will have heavy rain and gusty winds," Hoffman said. "Street flooding is possible."
Skies gradually begin to clear overnight and humidity levels also drop, making it more comfortable, Hoffman said.
Overnight lows are expected to be in the mid 60s.
Wednesday calls for mostly sunny skies, with "a few passing clouds," Hoffman said. Daily highs in the upper 70s are likely, with northwest winds shifting to the southeast from 5 to 10 mph.
