Clouds will dominate Sunday's weather, the National Weather Service said, and Christmas week is looking to be wet and windy.

"It will stay cloudy for much of the day today. There could be some breaks late, but for the most part it is going to be an overcast day," said Brian Ciemnecki, a meteorologist with the weather service's office in Upton. "There are some light snow showers hanging around, too, especially out east, at least for the morning hours and then its drier tonight."

But the clouds come right back during the day Monday, with a rainy pattern starting Monday night.

"The best chance of rain is Tuesday night into Wednesday and Wednesday night. The worst of it will be Christmas Eve ... its just looks like a crummy day overall but it doesn't look as terrible as what it was looking like earlier," Ciemnecki said.

There will be gusty winds Wednesday as well, he said.

Temperatures will gradually warm up throughout the week. Sunday's highs will be in upper 30s, Monday, with highs in the mid 40s. Tuesday will be in the lower 50s, Wednesday the upper 50s and then a cool-down starts Friday, Ciemnecki said.
