A cool, crisp morning greeted Long Island commuters Tuesday, and more of that kind of weather is ahead, the National Weather Service said.

An incoming high-pressure system will bring slightly cooler-than-normal temperatures through Wednesday, the Upton-based service said.

The system means fall-like daytime highs Tuesday in the mid to high 60s and overnight lows in the mid 50s.

Wednesday calls for highs in the lows 70s with a nighttime lows in the mid to high 50s.

Thursday and Friday are a bit warmer, with daytime highs expected to be in the mid 70s.

The system moves offshore and a warm front passes to the northwest by Friday, the service said.

There's a slight chance of showers Saturday night and into Sunday.
