Flood advisory for shore communities
A coastal flood advisory has been issued for Tuesday night into early Wednesday for communities along the South Shore and western Long Island Sound, according to the National Weather Service.
The advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday for the South Shore; and from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 3 a.m. Wednesday for the western Long Island Sound shoreline.
Minor to moderate flooding of low-lying areas is expected during times of high tide, the service said.
Tidal heights are expected to be 11/2 to 2 feet above routine tides, forecasters said.
The coastal flood advisory report says "onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore."
