Forecast calls for mostly sunny skies, warmer than normal temps for the rest of the week across Long Island

Monday looks to be a preview of the rest of the week, with mostly sunny skies and above normal temperatures across Long Island, the National Weather Service said.
Daytime highs Monday for most of Nassau and Suffolk counties are expected to be in the mid 70s, with a breezy northwest wind from 13 to 18 mph and gusts up to 30 mph, the service's Upton office said.
News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said some clouds will build Monday and then most of the rest of the week will be sunny and dry.
"Temperatures will be above normal through the weekend," Hoffman said.
Monday night turns clear and cool, with winds shifting to the northwest and subsiding to 5 to 10 mph. Overnight lows are in the mid 50s, with slightly lower temperatures in and near the pine barrens, Hoffman said.
Tuesday calls for slightly warmer conditions, with highs in the 80s, about 5 degrees warmer than normal for September, Hoffman said.
