A day of cloudy skies and scattered light showers is in store for Long Island on Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.

The chance of rain is 50 percent for most areas of Nassau and Suffolk counties, the service's Upton office said.

Daily highs Wednesday are expected to be in the mid 60s, with northeast winds 6-10 mph.

Commuters rolled out to light traffic on major roadways and rails.

No significant traffic alerts were reported for major roadways at informny.com, the state Department of Transportation website.

The Long Island Rail Road also was reporting good service at its site, mta.info.
