Forecast: Four days of rain on Long Island starts today

There’s rain in our future. And, if the forecasters from the National Weather Service are correct, it will begin Sunday — and could last, on an intermittent basis, until Thursday.

That’s right.

Forecasters are calling for a chance of rain every day between now and Thursday. High temperatures in that span are expected to be in the high 70s and low 80s and the chance of rain each day is no less than 30 percent.

Overnight lows will dip into the 60s, forecasters said.

There is a 50-percent chance of showers Sunday with overcast, cloudy skies predicted.

On Monday we can expect showers with a chance of thunderstorms after 9 a.m.

There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday, when a high of 82 degrees is expected. Winds are expected to range between 7 and 15 mph.

Wednesday also is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms, although warmer temperatures are expected — and, forecasters said, it could go as high as 87 degrees.

The sun will return Thursday, forecasters said, and temperatures should be close to 90. Skies will be mostly sunny.
