Friday starts out with a frost advisory for Long Island from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m., meaning that with temperatures expected in the mid 30s, there's a possibility for frost that could "pose a risk of damage to sensitive outdoor plants," the National Weather Service said.

With offshore winds, Friday's temperatures are expected to rise to the upper 40s to lower 50s, said David Stark, weather service meteorologist based in Upton.

But by Saturday, look for a shift in winds, allowing for a nice warm-up, with highs in the lower 60s, he said. A "bright and sunny day" and "quite a change from the last several days," he said.

Sunday is expected to be sunny, but slightly cooler with highs in the upper 50s, he said.

All in all, "a pretty nice weekend."
